First, we start this process by sending out an experienced Estimator to walk the property, gathering a list of quantities and locations to develop a quality scope of work. After determining the areas of repair we work on a proposal based on the materials needed.

Cost of Fencing & Railing Repairs

Costs for wood fencing and wood railing repairs can vary depending on the existing design. For spot replacements, we will plan to remove and replace damaged wood to match what is existing design. If the fencing is beyond repair or the railings do not meet current building codes, our Estimator may propose a full replacement. In some cases, full replacement is more cost effective in the long run.

Reasons Your Railings are Out of Code and Dangerous

Ladder

Railings that can be used as a ladder are very dangerous for small children that could climb them.

Too Large of Spacing

Railings with pickets spaced larger than 4" inches in between are dangerous. Small children and body parts could fit through the space.

Too Short

For safety, balcony railings are required to be a minimum of 42″ tall. Typical loading requirements dictate that guardrails should be strong enough to withstand 200 pounds of force applied along the top rail.
